Overview

Insights are reports on content and feature gaps based on user conversations. These reports use AI to create actionable summaries of where your documentation, product features, or integration support could be improved.

Types of Gaps

There are two types of gaps:

Content Gaps

Shows cases where the AI couldn't find relevant documentation, including:

  • Missing documentation topics
  • Unclear or incomplete explanations
  • Outdated information

Feature Gaps

Tracks conversations where users inquire about unsupported functionality, helping inform your product roadmap by:

  • Identifying most-requested features
  • Understanding use cases
  • Highlighting integration needs

Reports

Insight Reports are generated by bucketing content and feature gaps into common themes for a given time period.

  1. Open the Inkeep Dashboard
  2. Select your project
  3. Click on Insights in the sidebar
  4. Choose the report of your desired time frame (available weekly and monthly)

A report looks like:

And is segmented into two sections:

1. Features and Functionality

This section of the report synthesizes documentation and feature gaps core to your product. At the top of each "bucket" there is an AI generated summary with the exact details on what was not documented or not supported based on the user conversation.

Each bucket also contains a Chat Sessions which contains chats that were used to create that bucket. You can click on to them to view the full conversation.

2. Third-Party Integrations

Works the same as the above, but is focused on documentation or feature gaps relating to third party tools and services. These may reveal:

  • Popular integration requests
  • Common third-party tools used alongside your product
  • Integration documentation needs

Use as Filters in Chat Sessions

If you prefer to view documentation or feature gaps on a conversation-by-conversation level, you can use the Chat Sessions experience.

  1. Open the relevant Project in the Inkeep Dashboard
  2. Navigate to Chat Sessions
  3. Use the Documentation Gap and Feature Supported filters
  4. Click on individual rows to view each full conversation
